News & Events: Papier Creatif Scrap-n-Chat Session

Wow!  I found this photo of myself, Gigi, Poco and Chief from December 2007.  This picture makes me miss Autumn even more than I already do. Texas heat has been 100+ way too long!

The photo was taken by my daughter prior to my eyelid surgery {and while I still had adult braces - yeah, no fun.... not one bit.}.   Digital Scrapbooking and Blogging has enhanced my life in so many positive ways.  That was 2007 - Now it's 2011!

I hope that some of you will join me in the Skype Scrap-N-Chat session.  Consider this your personal invitation.  Grab your favorite night time snack or a nice glass of wine and let's have fun.  I'll have a freebie template and some digital goodies that you can use as a starting point.  Find a photo of yourself and we'll post on the Creatif Challenge page.

Get your Photoshop fired up!   It's time to relax, beat the heat and have fun!

Have you gotten your Skype account set-up yet?  :)  Remember to add me as a contact on Skype - PapierCreatif!

Scrap-N-Chat Invite

Wow!  I found this photo of myself, Gigi, Poco and Chief from December '07 today.  This picture makes me miss Autumn more than I already do.  I thought I'd share this with you guys since I post so many of my kids.  Texas heat has been 100+ way too long!

The photo was taken by my daughter prior to my eyelid surgery {& while I still had adult braces - yeah, no fun.}.   If you look closely at my lower eyelid on the left,  you can see the inflammation caused by basal cell carcinoma.  Sun damage, basically.  So, everyone, wear UV protectant sunglasses all the time.  it also helps stave off cataracts.  Boy, this post is really dating me!!!  After more than a year of frustration, I was referred to a surgeon.  I had taken off from my interior decorating business to focus on my health and learned Digital Scrapbooking during this *hiatus*.  Interesting how the twists and turns in life that are difficult can take your life in a completely different direction.  Digital Scrapbooking and Blogging has enhanced my life in so many positive ways.  That was 2007 - Now it's 2011!  Time flies ... I still love digital and interior design.  And ... I still love my dogs :)

I know you all are lurking!!!  I don't care if you're in the biz or you just enjoy digital scrapbooking.  It's time to relax, beat the heat and have fun!

Have you gotten your Skype account set-up yet?  :)

Photoshop Tutorial: Stroke Selection *Angel Stay*

{layout} *Angel Stay *

{inspiration} The Photograph

{credits}

  • Papier Creatif Papers & Photo Mask
  • Vera Lim Elements & Overlay

..... The Pen & Tablet came in handy for this sweet layout today.  You can create small elements that make a big splash and personalize digital layouts easily.

I wanted the corners to look framed and the heart to take on a contemporary, artsy edge.  So, I accented them with a bit of doodling.
  • In the Brush Palette, choose a hard round Photoshop brush and size to 7 px
  • Create a new layer  under the primary element {heart layer for this layout}, start drawing circular scribbles underneath.  Make it look like a loopy fringe!  Now, take a look at the dimension you can easily add to simple shapes in Photoshop.
  • Create a new layer for each corner and draw accents!

The black heart outlines .....
  • In Layers Palette, click down on the actual heart shape (that ensures you of what you are going to select}
  • Ctrl click the Shape {you'll see marching ants around your heart selection}
  • Create New Layer
  • Main Menu - Select, Modify, Border, 4 px or so (this expands the selection from 1 to 4 px)
  • Then Edit, Fill, Black
  • Ctrl D to deselect
..... You'll see a stroke outline of your heart.

..... Next, you can adjust the size further by using the Select Tool in the Tool Palette, hold down the Shift Key if you want the shape to maintain ratio, drag and pull to make it bigger.

..... For added dimension, you can rotate by holding down the Shift Key, hovering over a corner and when you see the arched arrows, click down on the mouse to move the shape in desired angle.  Click on the Layer or hit Enter to complete/commit the change.

..... Duplicate the layer a few times.  Then, as noted above, size and move to create interest.

..... You can always undo or delete layers you don't like!

Practice your doodling and modifying edges!
